Chapter 6 - The Corporate Infiltration

Sarah and I sped toward the massive glass skyscraper that housed my company.

The building was completely dark, shut down for the long weekend.

We bypassed the front security desk by entering through the underground parking garage.

My biometric keycard still worked, granting us access to the private executive elevator.

We rode up to the fiftieth floor in agonizing, tense silence.

Sarah pulled a small, silver handgun from her designer purse.

"I have a concealed carry permit, but I hope we do not need this," she whispered.

The elevator doors slid open, revealing the dimly lit corporate server room.

Arthur, the corrupt lawyer, was standing at the main console typing furiously.

He was actively transferring millions of dollars into untouchable international accounts.

I charged forward and tackled Arthur directly to the hard tile floor.

He shouted in surprise as my fist collided heavily with his jaw.

Arthur reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a switchblade.

Before he could swing the knife at me, Sarah slammed a heavy fire extinguisher into his head.

Arthur collapsed instantly, completely unconscious.

I scrambled to the computer and managed to pause the massive financial transfer.

I searched Arthur's pockets, looking for any clue about where Vanessa was hiding Noah.

I found a crumpled printout of an itinerary for a private charter flight.

The flight was scheduled to leave a local private airfield in exactly forty minutes.

I looked closely at the passenger manifest printed on the paper.

There were three tickets booked for a one-way trip to a country with no extradition laws.

The first name was Victoria Sterling, Vanessa's real identity.

The second name was Arthur Vance.

The third name made my blood freeze entirely in my veins.

It was the name of my lifelong best friend and business partner, Greg.
