Chapter 3 - The Frozen Assets

The threat of losing my home ignited a fire inside me that had been dormant since Richard died.
I told Arthur to instantly freeze every single trust fund, credit card, and joint account connected to Brandon's name.
I was entirely done being the invisible safety net for a son who despised me.
By noon, the strict financial lockdown was completely finalized.
I spent the afternoon packing away Richard's most valuable antique collections into the hidden floor safes.
At exactly seven o'clock that evening, my front door violently flew open.
Brandon stormed into the foyer, his face flushed with pure, unadulterated rage.
He screamed that his platinum credit card had just been declined in front of his most important investors.
He demanded that I call the bank and fix the embarrassing mistake immediately.
I calmly walked out of the kitchen and looked my son dead in the eye.
I told him that there was no mistake and his access to my money was permanently revoked.
Brandon stared at me as if I had suddenly grown a second head.
He took a threatening step forward, raising his voice to intimidate me.
He warned me that I was ruining his life over a petty, emotional argument.
I pulled the forged loan documents from my pocket and threw them onto the entry table.
I asked him how much Jessica had paid him to forge my signature and steal my home.
Brandon looked at the papers, and his arrogant expression shattered into absolute confusion.
He swore to me that he had never seen those specific pages in his life.
Before I could question him further, a massive man in a tailored suit stepped out from the dark shadows of my porch.

The man pulled back his jacket to reveal a holstered weapon and smiled coldly.
He said Brandon owed him two million dollars, and he had come to collect it in blood.
