Chapter 6 - The Vault Trap

Marcus looked absolutely pathetic, wearing a wrinkled suit and sweating profusely.
"You actually brought the key right to me, Arthur," Marcus laughed with a sickening, desperate tone.
He completely ignored my presence and stared hungrily at his terrified six-year-old son.
"The cartel is threatening to kill me if I do not deliver the boy tonight," Marcus confessed wildly.
I stepped aggressively between my grandson and the monster who had fathered him.
"You will have to shoot me first, and I promise I will not die quietly," I threatened in a lethal whisper.
Marcus confidently raised the heavy shotgun and aimed it directly at my face.
Before he could pull the trigger, I discreetly pressed a small button on my stolen laptop.
My daughter's backdoor program instantly triggered the vault's catastrophic emergency lockdown sequence.
A blinding red alarm began flashing wildly, and a loud siren completely deafened us.
The digital monitor on the wall announced that the oxygen supply was being systematically vented from the room.
Marcus panicked instantly, dropping his shotgun and running frantically toward the sealed steel door.
He pounded furiously against the impenetrable metal, screaming for someone to help him.
I calmly pulled an emergency oxygen mask from a hidden compartment I had researched on the blueprints.
I placed the small mask securely over Ethan's face, ensuring he could breathe perfectly normal air.
Marcus fell heavily to his knees, gasping desperately as the thin air rapidly left his lungs.
He reached a trembling hand toward me, silently begging for a mercy he absolutely did not deserve.
I watched with cold, entirely emotionless eyes as Marcus completely collapsed onto the floor.

I typed the final override code into the terminal, causing the heavy steel doors to slowly slide open.
We walked out into the hallway, but a familiar woman holding a handgun was blocking our path.
