Chapter 6 - The Sister's Downfall

Valeria let out a piercing, terrified scream as the cold metal of the gun pressed against her skin.

"Let me go, you absolute psychopath," she sobbed hysterically, struggling against his tight grip.

Diego ignored her desperate pleas, using her slender body as a human shield as he slowly backed toward the kitchen exit.

"Nobody moves," Diego roared, waving the pistol erratically toward my family members.

"If anyone tries to stop me, I swear I will blow her beautiful brains out right here."

My father took a brave step forward, his hands raised in a peaceful gesture.

"Diego, please do not hurt my daughter," my father begged, tears streaming down his wrinkled face.

"Take whatever you want, just let Valeria go safely."

I watched the chaotic scene unfold with absolute, chilling calmness.

I knew Diego perfectly well; he was an incredible coward who only used violence as a desperate bluff.

"Do you really think taking her hostage will help you escape the city?" I asked loudly, cutting through the panic.

Diego stopped backing away, his eyes darting frantically around the dark edges of the ballroom.

"I just need enough time to get to my private helicopter," he stammered, sweat pouring down his forehead.

"Once I am out of the country, I will let her go."

I let out a harsh, mocking laugh that echoed loudly in the tense silence.

"You do not have a private helicopter anymore, Diego," I informed him with a ruthless smile.

"I repossessed it three hours ago to cover the interest on your massive, unpaid loans."

Diego's face fell completely, his grand escape plan disintegrating right before his eyes.

He realized he was completely trapped in a cage that I had meticulously built around him for ten years.

The heavy police sirens grew deafeningly loud, and the flashing lights illuminated the frosted windows of the hall.

Alexander's heavily armed guards stepped aside, allowing the massive oak doors to swing wide open.

A dozen heavily armed tactical police officers stormed into the room, their assault rifles raised and aimed squarely at Diego.

"Drop the weapon immediately," the lead officer commanded over a loud bullhorn.

Diego's hands trembled violently, his arrogant courage entirely evaporating in the face of heavily armed law enforcement.

He slowly lowered the silver pistol and let it clatter loudly onto the marble floor.

Valeria instantly broke free from his grip, sprinting toward my parents and collapsing into their protective arms.

The tactical officers brutally tackled Diego to the ground, aggressively pulling his arms behind his back to apply the heavy steel handcuffs.

"You set me up," Diego screamed at me as his face was pressed firmly into the cold floor.

"You planned this entire spectacle just to humiliate me."

May you like

"I planned this to destroy you," I corrected him quietly, watching them drag my former fiancé away like a common criminal.

But the night was far from over, and I still had one final score to settle.
