Chapter 10 - The New Empire

The harsh, chaotic flashing lights of the police cruisers illuminated the dark street outside the ruined banquet hall.

Alexander stood safely by my side, his presence a comforting, impenetrable fortress against the absolute madness of the night.

Valeria was being frantically treated by the emergency paramedics, clutching a cheap thermal blanket instead of her expensive designer coat.

My parents hovered anxiously around her, completely ignoring the fact that I had just orchestrated their miraculous survival.

I did not feel any anger or jealousy toward them anymore.

I simply felt a profound, overwhelming sense of absolute liberation from their toxic, controlling grasp.

I had successfully avenged my broken heart, destroyed my enemies, and secured an untouchable financial empire.

Alexander turned to me, a rare, genuinely warm smile breaking through his normally terrifyingly cold exterior.

"You played an absolutely magnificent game tonight, Lucía," Alexander praised softly, gently taking my hand in his.

"The syndicate is officially ours, and the city finally belongs entirely to the new Queen."

I smiled back at the man who had believed in my brilliant mind when my own family had cruelly discarded me.

We had built this incredible empire entirely from the ashes of betrayal, and our partnership had quietly blossomed into a fierce, unbreakable love.

"We are finally going home, Alexander," I whispered, resting my head against his strong shoulder.

I turned my back on my ruined family for the final time, walking gracefully toward the waiting armored limousine.

The past was permanently buried, and my happy ending was completely, wonderfully secure.

But just as Alexander reached out to open the heavy car door for me, a police detective aggressively called out my name.

The older detective rushed across the wet pavement, holding a small, blood-stained plastic evidence bag.

"Miss Lucía, we found a hidden safe deposit key stitched directly inside Diego's suit jacket," the detective explained breathlessly.

He handed me a heavily encrypted digital file they had managed to recover from Diego's secure server.

I opened the document on my phone, expecting to find more evidence of his boring financial crimes.

Instead, I stared at a highly classified birth certificate proving that Valeria was not actually my biological sister, but the hidden daughter of a rival mafia boss.

The last sentence of the document read: "The parents must be eliminated immediately to keep the bloodline a secret."
