Chapter 8 - The Snowy Chase

Madison collapsed like a broken doll, the gun clattering harmlessly across the carpet.
Ethan immediately dropped the bloody statue and aggressively grabbed Madison's limp hand.
He violently ripped the gold biometric ring off her finger, slipping it safely into his own pocket.
He looked up and locked his cold, calculating eyes directly on me.
"I don't need her anymore, but I still need your grandfather's cedar box," Ethan said, pulling out a switchblade.
I didn't wait for him to lunge.
I grabbed a heavy crystal lamp from the dresser and hurled it directly at his head.
The lamp smashed into his shoulder, giving me exactly enough time to sprint out of the bedroom.
I ran recklessly down the grand staircase, dodging terrified guests who were fleeing toward the exits.
I burst through the heavy glass patio doors and out into the freezing, snow-covered estate gardens.
The bitter cold bit into my bare arms, but the adrenaline pumping through my veins kept me moving.
I heard Ethan's heavy boots crunching rapidly in the snow right behind me.
I sprinted toward the massive frozen fountain in the center of the garden, desperately searching for Silas.
Suddenly, a strong hand grabbed my hair from behind, violently throwing me to the icy ground.
Ethan pinned me down in the snow, raising the sharp switchblade high above his head.
Before he could bring the blade down, a massive shadow tackled him completely off of me.
Silas pounded Ethan brutally into the snow, disarming him with military precision.
I scrambled to my feet and quickly dug into Ethan's coat pocket, retrieving the heavy gold biometric ring.
"We have everything we need to stop the sale," I yelled to Silas over the howling wind.
Silas nodded, pulling out zip-ties to bind Ethan's wrists securely.

Suddenly, a dozen blinding flashlights clicked on from the dark tree line, completely surrounding us.
My father stepped out of the shadows, flanked by ten heavily armed syndicate mercenaries.
