Chapter 7 - The Ransacked House

I stood in the courtroom absolutely paralyzed as the corrupt judge handed the eviction order to the bailiff.
David grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the courtroom before I could say something that would get me arrested for contempt.
We rushed to his private office to build an aggressive, airtight federal appeal against the local judge.
David explained that the only way to destroy the fake death certificate was to force the notary who stamped it to confess.
We needed to find the original medical examiner who had supposedly signed off on my completely fabricated autopsy.
I used my old military intelligence contacts to track the specific medical examiner's private home address.
We drove to his upscale suburban house, hoping to convince him to testify in exchange for federal immunity.
When we pulled into his driveway, the front door of his beautiful brick home was standing wide open.
We drew our concealed weapons and moved cautiously through the silent, empty house.
The interior was completely ransacked, with furniture overturned and paperwork scattered everywhere.
The medical examiner was nowhere to be found, and his secure home safe had been burned open with a thermal torch.
David noticed a small, bloody handprint smeared across the edge of the kitchen counter.
My parents were actively erasing every single person who could connect them to the massive fraud ring.
My cell phone vibrated with a blocked caller ID, and I answered it on the first ring.

My father's voice echoed through the speaker, sounding terrifyingly calm and victorious.
He whispered that if I ever wanted to see the medical examiner alive again, I would sign the original property deed over immediately.
