I took a sip of my champagne, savoring the absolute taste of victory.

I walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out over the glittering skyline of Chicago.

Silas smiled warmly from across the luxury penthouse, raising his own glass to toast my incredible success.
He told me I deserved every single bit of happiness and power I had acquired tonight.
I turned to thank him for standing by my side through the entire nightmare.
Then Silas set his crystal glass down on the mahogany table.
He walked over to the heavy steel doors of the penthouse and turned the deadbolt, locking us inside.
He reached into his tailored suit jacket and pulled out a heavy, suppressed handgun.
He pointed the barrel directly at my chest, his warm smile vanishing into an expression of absolute, terrifying coldness.
