Chapter 3 - The Secret Billionaire

I froze completely as a tall, impeccably dressed man stepped out from the shadows of the adjacent waiting room.
He wore a tailored charcoal suit that probably cost more than my entire annual salary.
His eyes were a piercing, icy blue, holding the exact same arrogant spark that Daniel always displayed.
"My name is Richard Pierce, and I am the CEO of Pierce Global Logistics," the man stated calmly.
He walked over and casually took the medical clipboard out of my rigid, paralyzed hands.
"I had a brief, highly discreet arrangement with your mother thirty-two years ago," he explained without a shred of remorse.
I looked at my father, expecting him to shout, to defend his honor, or to deny this absurd claim.
Instead, my father stared at his own expensive leather shoes, looking like a thoroughly beaten dog.
"You knew about this?" I asked my father, my voice cracking under the weight of this massive family lie.
"We needed the financial support, Clara," my father whispered, tears welling in his pathetic eyes.
Richard chuckled darkly, a sound that sent terrifying shivers straight down my spine.
"Financial support is a rather polite way of saying I bought their utter silence and complicity," Richard corrected smoothly.
He turned his piercing gaze toward me, analyzing me as if I were a mere business asset.
"When I learned my only biological son was dying of leukemia, I utilized my resources to secure his cure."
I crossed my arms defensively, feeling the sickening reality of their corruption washing over me.
"You stole my stem cells from a Boston clinic using fraudulent legal documents," I accused him fiercely.
"I simply expedited a medical transfer that your parents assured me you would eventually agree to," he replied smoothly.
"They lied to you, just like they lied to me about not having money for my dying daughter," I spat back.
Richard’s confident expression faltered slightly for the very first time since he had revealed himself.
"What are you talking about, Clara?" he asked, his brow furrowing in genuine confusion.
"Three years ago, my daughter Lily needed a ninety-two thousand dollar deposit for a clinical trial," I explained, my voice trembling with rage.
"My parents claimed they were entirely broke, but bought Daniel a mansion less than a month later."
Richard slowly turned his head to look at my father, his icy blue eyes narrowing into dangerous slits.
"Is this true, Arthur?" Richard demanded, his voice suddenly dropping an entire octave.
My father began to sweat profusely, taking another terrified step backward away from the billionaire.
"We had to prioritize Daniel's future, Richard, he was starting a new family," my father pleaded desperately.
Richard closed the distance between them in two massive strides and grabbed my father by the throat.
"I wired you two million dollars specifically to save that little girl in Boston," Richard snarled viciously.

My heart completely stopped beating as the horrific truth finally echoed through the sterile hospital corridor.
"You let your own granddaughter die and kept my money to buy yourselves that Lakewood estate," Richard roared.
