Chapter 6 - The Midnight Sabotage

I stood helplessly on my patio as the thick grey sludge completely swallowed the boundary line.
The site manager refused to accept the stop-work order, claiming the foundation pour had already commenced and could not safely be halted.
Vanessa stood a few feet away, her arms crossed, watching the destruction of my property with deep satisfaction.
I immediately called Sarah, my new attorney, and told her what was happening.
Sarah remained remarkably calm and told me that if they destroyed the physical evidence, we would just have to rely on digital proof.
She instructed me to gather any photographs or videos I had of the backyard from before the fence was demolished.
I remembered the security cameras I had installed under my roof eaves five years ago.
They recorded on a continuous loop, storing the footage on a hidden hard drive in my basement.
I went downstairs, turned on my computer, and pulled up the archives from the night before Vanessa tore down the fence.
I spent hours scrolling through the grainy night-vision footage.
I finally found the exact moment Vanessa's contractors arrived at dawn to begin dismantling the cedar panels.
But as I watched the workers move around in the dark, I noticed something else happening in the corner of the screen.
Two men had separated from the main group and walked directly up to the side of my house.
They were carrying heavy shovels and a long metal crowbar.
They knelt down near the foundation of my home, right where my main utility lines entered the basement.
I zoomed in on the footage and enhanced the contrast to see what they were doing.

They weren't just prepping the area for the deck installation.
I watched in pure horror as one of the men deliberately drove the heavy crowbar straight down into my main water pipe, violently severing the line before quickly covering it back up with loose dirt.
