Chapter 8 - The Federal Game

Vanessa instantly jumped up from her metal chair and demanded to know why civilians were in her interrogation room.
The District Attorney calmly instructed Vanessa to step away from the suspect immediately.
I walked directly to the metal table and snatched the immunity agreement away from my son.
Victor looked up at me with wide, tear-filled eyes, resembling the frightened little boy he used to be.
I turned my attention to Vanessa, who was glaring at me with raw, unfiltered hatred.
I told her she was a total disgrace to the federal badge she was wearing.
My construction company held the highest security clearances because we built the secure facilities for the government.
I had known about Vanessa's true undercover identity since the very first day Victor brought her home.
I handed a thick, heavily encrypted folder directly to the District Attorney.
The folder contained irrefutable proof that Vanessa had gone completely rogue on her assignment.
The documents proved she had orchestrated the entire embezzlement scheme to steal the ten million dollars for herself.
She had planned to flee to Switzerland and let my innocent son take the fall for a murder he did not commit.
I also handed the captain a high-definition flash drive retrieved from Volkov's personal security team.
The surveillance video on the drive clearly showed Vanessa pulling the trigger in the lawyer's office to silence him.
Vanessa's face drained of all color as her entire malicious web unraveled in a matter of seconds.
The precinct captain stepped forward and ordered Vanessa to surrender her weapon and badge immediately.
Instead of complying, Vanessa let out a furious scream and drew her loaded service pistol from her shoulder holster.
She lunged across the metal table and grabbed Victor violently by the collar of his ruined silk shirt.

Vanessa jammed the barrel of the gun hard against my son's bruised temple.
She threatened to blow his brains out right in front of me if anyone tried to stop her from leaving the building.
