Chapter 10 - The Final Cleanup

The FBI agent reacted with lightning speed and flawless precision.

Before Daniel could even raise the barrel of his gun, the agent stepped forward and struck him brutally across the jaw.

Daniel collapsed to the hardwood floor instantly, dropping the weapon as he fell completely unconscious.

The agent swiftly kicked the gun across the room and secured Daniel's hands with heavy zip-ties.

The rest of the family surrendered without another fight, completely broken by the reality of their situation.

I watched in absolute silence as Greg, Vanessa, and Margaret were marched out the front door in handcuffs.

Margaret tried to scream obscenities at me, but an agent firmly pushed her into the back of a federal vehicle.

The lead FBI agent handed me a business card and a small evidence bag containing the hidden camera from my bedroom.

"Your house is secure, Ms. Bennett, and the fraudulent loan has been completely nullified by the bank," he assured me.

I thanked the agents profusely for saving my life and my business from utter ruin.

Within a month, the divorce was finalized, leaving Daniel with absolutely nothing but a massive prison sentence.

I had successfully defended my home, protected my wealth, and removed the toxic parasites from my life forever.

I spent a peaceful Friday evening sitting on my back patio, sipping an expensive glass of red wine under the stars.

I finally felt like I could breathe again without walking on eggshells in my own house.

Suddenly, my personal cell phone rang with a call from an encrypted, untraceable international number.

I hesitated for a moment before answering, pressing the phone cautiously to my ear.

"Daniel was just a pawn, Claire, a stupid boy who got greedy," a heavily distorted, metallic voice whispered.

"You still have absolutely no idea who actually funded your first software company six years ago."

"Enjoy the house for now, Claire, because it is finally time for you to pay your real debt."
