Chapter 3 - The Empty Vault

The federal agent marched directly to the front of the courtroom and flashed a shiny gold badge.

He introduced himself in a booming voice as Special Agent Carter from the federal financial crimes division.

The judge looked completely bewildered but respectfully allowed him to approach the high wooden bench.

Carter announced that Mitchell Medical Technologies was officially under federal investigation for massive, international corporate fraud.

Jason's face turned completely purple with rage as he yelled obscenities at the calm federal agent.

He screamed that his company was legally untouchable and his bank accounts were heavily encrypted and secure.

Carter calmly turned to Jason and informed him that all of his domestic assets had been frozen by the United States government.

Madison panicked instantly, whispering frantically to Jason that they needed to flee the country before they were arrested.

Jason laughed arrogantly, telling her not to worry because he had transferred all the money to an untraceable offshore vault.

He aggressively pulled out his phone to show the agent the offshore balance, determined to prove his ultimate power.

He opened the secure banking application, but his confident, mocking smile vanished in an absolute instant.

The digital screen displayed a total account balance of absolute zero.

Jason frantically tapped the glass screen, shouting at the top of his lungs that there had to be a system error.

Agent Carter smirked and explained that the offshore accounts had already been entirely drained before the federal freeze took effect.

Jason glared at the federal agent with murderous intent and demanded to know who stole his money.

I stepped forward from the plaintiff's table and casually smoothed the fabric of my simple gray dress.

I looked into his panicked eyes and told Jason that I had transferred the money myself using his private biometric encryption keys.

Jason roared like a wild animal and lunged at me, but two armed bailiffs instantly tackled him to the floor.

As they slapped heavy steel handcuffs on his wrists, Jason looked up at me with a terrifying, unhinged grin.

He whispered that if he went to prison, I would not live long enough to spend a single dime of his money.
