Chapter 3 - The Custody Threat

I instinctively shielded Brinley with my body as Connor marched across the room.
He waved the fraudulent legal document in my face with an arrogant smirk.
He claimed a judge had granted him temporary emergency custody because I was an unfit mother.
I looked calmly at the two massive security guards standing by the broken door.
I warned them that they were currently trespassing on private property owned by Davis Hardy Enterprises.
Connor laughed out loud, insisting that his company owned this land and he could do whatever he wanted.
I pulled my cell phone from my pocket and dialed the local police chief directly.
Within three minutes, four police cruisers with blaring sirens surrounded the small guesthouse.
The officers rushed inside with their weapons drawn, completely ignoring Connor's arrogant demands.
They aggressively handcuffed Connor's security guards and escorted them outside to the waiting patrol cars.
The police chief politely informed Connor that his custody papers were completely forged and invalid.
Connor's face turned bright red as he realized his intimidation tactics had completely failed.
He pointed a shaking finger at me and swore he would destroy my life before his wedding day.
I watched him storm out to his luxury car, humiliated in front of the entire neighborhood.
I felt a brief moment of victory until my investigator sent me an urgent voice memo.
