Chapter 2 - The Eviction Notice

The photographs of Alyssa and Marcus kissing in a dark alley changed my entire strategy.
They were obviously conspiring to steal Connor's wealth from the inside out.
It was almost poetic that the man who betrayed me was currently being betrayed by everyone he trusted.
The next morning, two men in cheap suits banged aggressively on the door of my mother's guesthouse.
They handed me a formal eviction notice signed by Connor's personal legal team.
The document demanded that I vacate the property and surrender all my personal bank accounts to him.
He was officially trying to leave me and newborn Brinley completely destitute on the streets.
I simply smiled at the terrified messengers and politely closed the door in their faces.
I immediately called Parker to initiate the first phase of our legal counterattack.
Parker filed a silent injunction that completely froze Connor's personal credit lines.
I wanted Connor to experience the exact same helplessness he had tried to force upon me.
Later that afternoon, I received a frantic text message from my former mother-in-law, Betsy.
She demanded that I bring Brinley to her house so they could take public family photographs.
They desperately needed to use my daughter as a prop to clean up Connor's tarnished public image.
I ignored her message and kissed my beautiful baby girl on the forehead.

Suddenly, the heavy wooden door of the guesthouse violently burst open.
Connor stormed into the room alongside two armed security guards, holding a court order demanding immediate custody of my daughter.
