Chapter 9 - The Final Stand

Daniel pumped the heavy shotgun, a sick, twisted smile spreading across his face as he aimed it directly at our chests.
He mockingly welcomed both of his beautiful wives home, laughing at the sheer absurdity of us standing side by side.
Patricia began violently splashing the highly flammable gasoline across the antique furniture, ensuring the entire house would burn to the ground.
Daniel confessed that he knew Victoria had found the hit contract, and he had set this trap to eliminate every loose end at once.
He threw the portable biometric scanner onto the floor at my feet and demanded that I authorize the transfer immediately.
If I refused, he promised to shoot Victoria first, then torture me until I willingly gave him the fingerprint he needed.
I slowly knelt down onto the gasoline-soaked carpet, placing my trembling hand over the glowing green glass of the scanner.
I looked up at Daniel, telling him that he was incredibly arrogant to think he could ever outsmart the Blackwood family.
I pressed my thumb firmly against the glass, ignoring the loud, triumphant cheer that escaped Patricia's lips.
The scanner beeped wildly, but instead of flashing green to confirm the transfer, the screen turned a solid, glaring red.

A cold, mechanical voice echoed from the device, announcing that the catastrophic financial lockdown protocol had been successfully initiated.
Daniel's eyes widened in pure terror as he realized I had just permanently frozen every single bank account associated with his name across the entire globe.
