Chapter 4 - The Kill Order

The chilling realization of the two custom caskets made my blood run completely and utterly cold.
Brian was not just trying to quietly empty our bank accounts and flee the country with his evil mother.
He was actively planning to ruthlessly murder both me and my innocent daughter before the sun ever came up.
Marcus grabbed my arm forcefully and dragged me away from the dangerously exposed glass windows of the waiting room.
He knew that if Brian had already paid for our funerals, the professional assassins were already on their way here.
We rushed frantically down the sterile white hallway toward the highly secure pediatric intensive care unit.
I prayed desperately that the doctors had already stabilized Lily's incredibly fragile physical condition.
We burst through the heavy double doors and thankfully found Lily sleeping peacefully hooked up to several monitoring machines.
The doctor assured us the poison was fully neutralized, but she desperately needed to rest for several days.
Marcus quickly locked the heavy wooden door of the hospital room and smoothly drew his concealed weapon.
He strictly instructed me to stay completely out of sight and actively guard Lily with my own life.
I crouched closely beside her small hospital bed and gently held her warm, sleeping hand tightly in mine.
Suddenly, the bright fluorescent lights in the hospital corridor flickered wildly and went completely dark.
The loud emergency backup generators immediately kicked on, bathing the entire room in an eerie, terrifying red glow.
Heavy, deliberate footsteps echoed incredibly loudly on the linoleum floor right outside our locked wooden door.
Someone slowly turned the metal door handle, but the heavy mechanical deadbolt held firmly in place.
A deep, highly unfamiliar voice softly whispered my name through the narrow gap directly under the door.
The stranger casually announced that he had just brutally murdered the two police officers in the main lobby.
He falsely promised to make my death completely painless if I simply opened the locked door for him.
May you like
Marcus silently raised his gun, aimed directly at the center of the heavy wood, and fired three deafening warning shots.
The man outside laughed deeply and promised to return with significantly heavier firepower in exactly five minutes.
