Chapter 8 - THE BETRAYAL

The choice broke whatever was left of David's fragile ego.

He had spent his entire life hiding behind his parents' money, letting his mother dictate his actions, and letting his sister walk all over his wife. But when faced with actual, severe consequences—the prospect of federal prison—his loyalty to his family evaporated.

David signed the papers.

He signed away his rights to Leo without a single tear. He saved his own skin.

"By the way," Evelyn said, pausing at the door of the conference room. "My client made a deal with the FBI regarding the financial crimes. But she never said anything about keeping quiet on the bribery."

David stood up, his face turning the color of ash. "No! You said we had a deal!"

"Maya said she wouldn't release it if you signed," Evelyn smiled. "I never said I wouldn't."
