Chapter 7 - THE ULTIMATUM

While I waited, Marcus stalked my villa from a distance. He couldn't make a move because the local Carabinieri (police) had been tipped off by Mateo and were continuously patrolling my street. It was a tense, agonizing standoff.

Back in New York, Evelyn executed our plan with lethal precision.

She walked directly into the office of the law firm representing David. She didn't file motions; she dropped a massive binder of Arthur's illegal offshore wire transfers, blackmail material, and the judge's bribery receipts onto the conference table.

David was sitting there, looking gaunt, exhausted, and terrified.

"What is this?" David asked, his voice trembling.

"This is the end of the Sterling family," Evelyn said coldly. "My client, Maya, is currently protected by international law. If you attempt to file for custody, or if your hired thug touches one hair on her head, this binder goes to the New York Times and the FBI simultaneously. Your father will die in federal prison, and you will be indicted as an accessory."

David looked at his lawyer, begging for a way out. His lawyer slowly closed the binder and slid it back across the table.

"Sign the papers, David," his lawyer whispered. "They have you dead to rights."

May you like

Evelyn slid a document across the table. It was a voluntary, irrevocable surrender of parental rights.

"You choose right now, David," Evelyn sneered. "Your son, or your freedom."
