Chapter 6 - THE COUNTER-STRIKE

Marcus was right about one thing: hiding wasn't a permanent strategy. As long as Arthur had influential friends pulling the strings in New York, they would never stop hunting us.
I couldn't just play defense anymore. I had to annihilate them.
I returned to my villa, locked all the doors, and opened my laptop. I contacted Evelyn Ross, one of the most vicious, high-profile family law and whistleblower attorneys in Manhattan. She despised corrupt old money.
"Ms. Ross," I said over the encrypted video call. "I have undeniable proof that Arthur Sterling used his real estate holdings to bribe a sitting state judge. In exchange, I need you to destroy my husband in family court and secure me permanent, unchallengeable sole custody."
Evelyn's eyes lit up through the screen. "You have the bribery ledgers?"
May you like
"I have everything. But I won't hand them over to the FBI until David signs away his parental rights forever."
"Give me forty-eight hours," Evelyn smiled, a shark smelling blood in the water. "I'm going to make your husband wish he had never been born."
