Chapter 5 - The Hidden Eyes

Lukas was trying to strike first, using the money I had moved to paint me as a thief.
I refused to let him control the narrative or throw me out of my own house.
I rushed to an electronics store and purchased four high-definition hidden cameras with audio recording capabilities.
I spent the afternoon meticulously installing them in the living room, the kitchen, and Lukas's study.
I positioned the lenses perfectly to capture every angle of the house without raising any suspicion.
Once the system was live, I called my mother-in-law, Ingrid, and invited her over for an afternoon coffee.
I purposely invited Lukas's sister, Elisa, knowing she couldn't keep a secret to save her life.
They arrived an hour later, looking incredibly smug and completely unaware of the trap I had set.
I served them expensive pastries, playing the role of the oblivious, dedicated wife to absolute perfection.
I subtly directed the conversation toward our future, mentioning how excited I was for Lukas's upcoming corporate merger.
Ingrid chuckled softly, switching instantly to German so she could insult me right to my face.
She told Elisa that it was a shame I wouldn't be around to enjoy any of that corporate money.
Elisa laughed, replying in German that the forged contract would make sure I left with nothing but the clothes on my back.
My heart soared as the hidden cameras captured their crystal-clear, high-definition confessions.
I excused myself to the bathroom, pulling out my phone to monitor the live feed from the kitchen camera.
While I was gone, Elisa leaned across the table and whispered something else to her mother.

She said it was a good thing I didn't know Lukas was at the hospital right now.
Sophia hadn't waited until Tuesday; her water had just broken an hour ago.
