Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Rescue

I stared at the glowing laptop screen as Vivienne's cruel, triumphant laughter echoed endlessly through the dark subway tunnel.

She had successfully stolen fifty million dollars, humiliated me publicly, and was currently escaping without a single consequence.

I slowly pulled a small, sleek black remote control from my wet jacket pocket and placed it gently on the desk in front of the camera.

Vivienne's arrogant laughter instantly ceased as her eyes locked aggressively onto the small device on the screen.

"Did you honestly think I didn't know about your little crypto theft project for the last six months?" I asked her smoothly.

I pressed a single red button on the remote, initiating a massive, pre-programmed security protocol.

"I let you steal that money, Vivienne, because it was the only way to perfectly trace your secret offshore cartel buyers."

Her face twisted into a mask of pure, absolute panic as she frantically plugged the hard drive into her own laptop.

"The money you stole is entirely fake, replaced weeks ago by a highly aggressive digital tracking virus," I explained triumphantly.

The virus was currently destroying her entire financial network and broadcasting her exact GPS coordinates directly to the FBI.

Through the video feed, I could hear the terrifying, wailing sound of massive police sirens rapidly closing in on her location.

Vivienne screamed in pure, unadulterated rage just as federal agents violently smashed the windows of her fleeing vehicle.

The live feed abruptly cut to static, signaling the beautiful, permanent end to her vicious, deceitful reign.

I walked slowly out of the abandoned subway station, finally breathing the clean, fresh night air with absolute relief.

I returned to my grand mansion hours later, completely exhausted but utterly victorious in every single way.

Maria and Sofia were safe, my massive fortune was entirely secure, and Vivienne was going to spend the rest of her life in federal prison.

I walked into the warm, illuminated kitchen and immediately knelt down to hug Bruno, who was resting happily on his massive dog bed.

He pushed his enormous black head firmly against my chest, offering me the profound, silent comfort I had desperately craved.

The core conflict was beautifully, completely resolved, and my family was finally entirely whole again.

The next morning, the sun was shining brightly as I sat on the patio, happily tossing a tennis ball for Bruno.

My phone rang loudly, displaying the private number of my trusted, highly discreet veterinary doctor.

"Adrian, the DNA bloodwork results from the hospital finally came back, and I need you to listen to me very carefully," the doctor whispered intensely.

"The massive dog you brought home from the airfield looks exactly like Bruno in every single way."

"But the blood absolutely proves it isn't him."
