Chapter 7 - The Hostage Trade

Grandma dropped the cell phone in absolute horror.
Chloe mocked us through the speaker, revealing she had intercepted the FBI agent's phone.
The mercenaries forcefully ripped the truck doors open.
They dragged my mother out by her coat and threw her onto the wet gravel.
One of the men grabbed my arm and pulled me out into the freezing rain.
Grandma tried to fight them off, but she was easily overpowered.
A second black SUV pulled up behind the first one.
My father stepped out wearing his ruined birthday tuxedo.
He looked at my mother on the ground with a twisted smile of sheer amusement.
He told her it was very rude to crash his birthday party after being dead for five years.
My father walked over to me and snatched the metallic flash drive from my trembling hand.
He inspected the drive and slipped it into his pocket with a satisfied sigh.
He ordered the mercenaries to execute my mother and Grandma right there on the highway.
He said he would take me home and tell everyone we were tragically carjacked.
The men raised their weapons and aimed at my family.
I screamed and begged him to stop, promising I would never tell anyone about the bandages again.
My father gently patted my head and said it was far too late for apologies.
Before the mercenaries could pull their triggers, a massive spotlight illuminated the entire highway.
A heavily armored tactical truck smashed violently into my father's SUV.
The impact sent him flying backward into the muddy ditch.

The back doors of the armored truck burst open.
The real FBI agent stepped out holding a megaphone and a military-grade rifle.
