Chapter 6 - The Sabotaged Brakes

Camila felt a terrifying chill radiate through her body as she watched the mechanic slide quietly under her sleek luxury sedan.
She now had crystal clear, undeniable video evidence of Edwin aggressively orchestrating her murder.
But calling the police right now would only put him in jail, completely leaving his accomplices free to contest the massive estate.
She needed to thoroughly destroy every single one of them in a single, devastating blow.
The next morning, Camila confidently walked into the grand foyer, loudly jingling her car keys.
She casually announced that she was driving down the steep, winding mountain roads to attend a critical board meeting in the city.
Edwin and Chloe were sitting together on the expensive velvet sofa, exchanging dark, highly suggestive smiles.
Edwin cheerfully wished her a safe trip, his eyes practically gleaming with the anticipation of her impending death.
Camila walked briskly into the massive underground garage, her mind operating with absolute, icy precision.
Instead of walking toward her own sabotaged sedan, she turned sharply toward Edwin's prized, custom-built red Ferrari.
She quickly grabbed a heavy wrench from the workbench and aggressively smashed the Ferrari's driver-side window into a million pieces.
She completely ignored her own car, hotwired the damaged sports car with practiced ease, and sped furiously out of the driveway.
Edwin ran frantically into the garage after hearing the loud crash, completely losing his mind when he saw his beloved Ferrari missing.
He was absolutely furious, but he also felt a deep sense of relief because Camila was not in the rigged vehicle.
Camila safely reached the downtown corporate office, spending the entire afternoon aggressively locking down the company's remaining liquid assets.
She turned her phone completely off, ensuring that Edwin could not reach her to complain about his stolen car.
Just as the sun began to set over the sprawling Los Angeles skyline, Camila finally turned her cell phone back on.
It immediately rang loudly, displaying an unknown, highly official-looking phone number.
A grim-sounding police officer quickly identified himself and asked if she was the legal spouse of Edwin Vance.
The officer solemnly reported that Edwin's luxury sedan had suffered a catastrophic brake failure on the treacherous Pacific Coast Highway.
The vehicle had violently careened off the steep cliffside, bursting into a massive fireball upon hitting the rocky beach below.
Camila gasped loudly, genuinely shocked because she knew Edwin would never be stupid enough to drive the car he had personally sabotaged.
The officer calmly explained that the male driver had miraculously survived the terrible crash and was currently in critical condition.

But the officer's voice cracked slightly as he delivered the truly devastating part of the official report.
The female passenger trapped inside the vehicle had been killed instantly on impact, and the medical examiner confirmed she was heavily pregnant.
