Chapter 3 - The Forged Signature

Camila stared at the official seal on the document in Chloe's perfectly manicured hands, feeling a cold wave of dread wash over her.
There was absolutely no way Edwin could legally seize control of her father's private medical board.
George Stanford had ironclad trusts designed specifically to prevent greedy outsiders from touching his life's work.
Camila immediately turned to Attorney Wayne, demanding to know how this hostile takeover was even possible.
Wayne adjusted his glasses and quickly scanned the complex legal jargon printed on the thick parchment.
His face turned completely pale as he pointed to the bottom of the very last page.
There, in stark black ink, was Camila's own signature, directly authorizing the complete transfer of her proxy voting rights to Edwin.
Camila's mind violently spiraled backward to yesterday morning in the kitchen of their Bel Air mansion.
Edwin had hastily shoved a massive stack of papers in front of her while she was busy cooking breakfast for his ungrateful mother.
He had claimed they were just routine tax extensions for their shared residential properties.
She had been so distracted and exhausted by his endless nagging that she had simply signed where he pointed without reading the fine print.
He had strategically hidden the proxy transfer right in the middle of the boring tax documents.
Suddenly, the elevator doors at the end of the hallway slid open with a soft chime.
Edwin stepped out, flanked by his smug mother, Beverly, and two private security contractors.
Beverly walked right up to Camila, looking her up and down with absolute, unfiltered disgust.
She spat directly onto Camila's designer shoes, laughing sharply as the saliva dripped onto the linoleum floor.
Beverly loudly declared that Camila was now officially poor, homeless, and entirely powerless.
Edwin smirked, wrapping a protective arm tightly around Chloe's waist in front of everyone.
He coldly ordered his new security contractors to physically remove his soon-to-be ex-wife from his newly acquired hospital.
The two massive men stepped forward, reaching out to grab Camila by her arms.
But Camila simply stood her ground, looking down at the legal document still resting on the counter.
A slow, chilling smile spread across her face, completely unsettling everyone in the room.
She casually pulled her phone from her pocket and pressed a single button, casting a digital image onto the large wall monitor behind the desk.
The image clearly displayed a high-resolution close-up of the signature she had provided on Edwin's fake tax documents.

She proudly announced that she never used her real legal name when signing unverified paperwork.
Camila pointed to the screen, showing them all that she had deliberately signed the name of her deceased childhood pet.
