Chapter 5 - The Hidden Billionaire

The heavily armed federal agents quickly secured the perimeter of the ballroom, blocking every single exit.

The wealthy guests began to panic, clutching their expensive jewelry and whispering frantically to one another.

My father stumbled backward, looking like a man who was having a massive heart attack.

"What is the meaning of this?" he shouted, trying desperately to maintain his fading authority.

The lead FBI agent walked directly past my father and approached Greg, the terrified groom.

"Gregory Vance, you are under arrest for massive wire fraud and operating an illegal offshore betting syndicate," the agent announced loudly.

Greg tried to run, but two agents instantly tackled him to the marble floor, securing his wrists in heavy steel handcuffs.

Allison screamed in horror as her brand-new husband was roughly dragged away from her perfect wedding reception.

She fell to her knees in her massive designer gown, weeping hysterically into her hands.

My father turned his blazing, furious eyes back to me.

"You orchestrated all of this, didn't you?" he growled, completely ignoring the fact that his son-in-law was a federal criminal.

"I simply provided the authorities with the digital evidence they needed," I replied, feeling absolutely no remorse.

"I have spent the last ten years writing code and building an empire while you thought I was crying in a basement."

My father's face contorted into a mask of pure, violent rage.

He lunged forward, raising his heavy hand to strike me right across the face.

Before Daniel's private security could even react, someone stepped directly between me and my father.

It was my mother.

For thirty-two years, she had been a silent, obedient ghost, always looking away when my father tormented me.

But tonight, she stood tall, her eyes blazing with an unfamiliar, fierce determination.

She raised her hand and delivered a vicious, echoing slap directly to my father's cheek.

The sharp crack silenced the remaining whispers in the massive ballroom.

My father stumbled back, touching his reddened cheek in absolute, profound shock.

"Do not ever raise your hand to my daughter again," my mother stated, her voice surprisingly steady and clear.

She reached into her elegant designer purse and pulled out a thick stack of legal documents.

"I have remained silent because I was terrified of losing my lifestyle," she confessed to the entire room.

"But watching you throw Meredith into that fountain finally broke the spell."

She shoved the documents violently against my father's chest.

"These are immediate divorce papers, Richard, and I am taking absolutely everything."

My father recovered from the slap and let out a cruel, barking laugh.

"You are taking nothing, you foolish woman," he sneered, tossing the papers onto the floor.

"You signed an ironclad prenuptial agreement thirty-five years ago that leaves you with absolutely zero assets!"

I smiled warmly at my mother, stepping forward to deliver the final, crushing blow.

"That prenuptial agreement is entirely void, Father," I said softly.

May you like

My father glared at me, his confidence wavering slightly.

"Because I found the original documents proving that you committed severe identity theft to hide your assets before you even married her."
