Chapter 6 - The CFO's Secret

A collective gasp echoed through the tension-filled conference room.
Daniel Price kept his face buried in his hands, completely shattered by his own confession.
“What photographs, Daniel?” Rebecca Cole asked, her legal mind immediately calculating the new liability.
Daniel let out a pathetic, broken sob that echoed tragically in the quiet room.
“Madison hired a private investigator to follow me during my business trip to Las Vegas last year,” Daniel confessed.
“She showed me pictures of myself walking into a hotel room with an escort.”
He finally looked up, his eyes red and filled with desperate shame.
“She threatened to destroy my marriage and take my children away if I ever defied her father's orders.”
Madison smiled a wicked, triumphant smile from across the table.
She casually brushed a piece of lint off her expensive designer blazer.
“It is just business, Daniel,” she said with a malicious shrug.
“You should have known better than to leave yourself vulnerable to leverage.”
She looked at the federal agents and crossed her legs comfortably.
“Without the CFO's signature, the board's emergency vote is completely invalid,” Madison pointed out accurately.
“My father retains his voting shares, which means he is still the CEO of this company.”
Robert let out a massive sigh of relief, leaning back in his chair with a sickening grin.
“You tried your best, Ethan,” Robert mocked, his confidence fully restored.
“But blood is always thicker than water, and power always protects itself.”
“Now, I suggest you and your federal friends leave my property before I have you arrested for trespassing.”
The two board members looked at me with deep despair, realizing they were completely trapped.
If Robert remained in power, he would destroy the company and drain the remaining accounts to save himself.
I did not panic, nor did I look defeated.
I simply opened a new tab on my laptop and entered a highly complex administrative override code.
“You are very good at manipulating people, Madison,” I acknowledged calmly.
“But you are incredibly bad at understanding how corporate network security actually works.”
I clicked a final button, projecting a new set of data onto the massive conference screen.
The screen displayed a series of high-resolution digital photographs featuring a man who looked exactly like Daniel.
“You see, Daniel, you never actually hired an escort in Las Vegas,” I explained to the weeping CFO.
“You were incredibly intoxicated at the casino bar, and you passed out in your own room alone.”
Daniel looked up at the screen, absolute confusion replacing his overwhelming shame.
I zoomed in on the metadata attached to the scandalous photographs.
“Madison used company funds to hire a digital artist on the dark web,” I revealed to the silent room.
“She had them seamlessly superimpose your face onto the body of another man.”
“I found the original stock images, the payment receipts, and the email chain confirming the digital forgery.”
I turned to look at my sister, whose face had suddenly drained of all its triumphant color.
“You didn't just commit corporate extortion, Madison,” I whispered coldly.
“You used company IP addresses to manufacture fraudulent blackmail material.”
Agent Vance stepped forward, pulling a second pair of heavy steel handcuffs from his belt.
“That adds federal cyber extortion and wire fraud to your growing list of charges, Ms. Hayes,” the agent stated.
Daniel Price stared at the screen, realizing his entire nightmare had been a cruel, fabricated illusion.
A wave of profound relief and sudden, violent anger washed over his face.
He grabbed his fountain pen, pulled the transition documents back across the table, and signed his name with aggressive force.
“The vote is unanimous,” Daniel declared loudly, slamming the pen down.
“Robert Hayes is officially removed as Chief Executive Officer.”
The sound of blaring police sirens suddenly erupted from the city streets outside, completely surrounding the corporate building.
Robert Hayes stood up, tears welling in his eyes as he looked at me with absolute desperation.
“Ethan, please,” my father begged, his arrogant facade finally breaking into a million pieces.
“I am your father, you cannot let them take me away in handcuffs!”
Before I could answer his pathetic plea, the conference room telephone began ringing with a piercing, urgent tone.
I pressed the speaker button, and the terrified voice of our front desk receptionist filled the room.
“Ethan, I am so sorry to interrupt,” the receptionist cried frantically.

“The CEO of Apex Global just saw the police cars surrounding our building on the local news.”
“Apex is pulling their entire shipping contract immediately, and they are demanding their three-million-dollar deposit back right now.”
