Chapter 8 - The Tarmac Standoff

The bright runway lights illuminated Silvio's twisted, desperate smile.

"Where is my mother?" I demanded loudly, keeping my heavy rifle aimed firmly at his chest.

Silvio laughed cruelly and casually waved the explosive detonator in the cold night air.

"She is already thousands of miles away, completely safe from your pathetic revenge," Silvio mocked us.

"This plane was just a brilliant decoy to keep you busy while she transferred the ultimate funds."

Dad lowered his weapon slightly, realizing we had been completely outsmarted by his brilliant wife.

"Silvio, she is going to absolutely betray you too, because you are just a disposable pawn," Dad reasoned calmly.

Silvio hesitated for a tiny fraction of a second, a brief flicker of genuine doubt crossing his face.

Clarissa used that exact moment of weakness to raise her silenced pistol and fire a single, perfect shot.

The bullet struck Silvio directly in his right shoulder, causing him to instantly drop the dangerous detonator.

The small device shattered completely on the hard asphalt without triggering any explosives.

Emilio and I rushed forward aggressively and tackled the bleeding traitor violently to the ground.

"Tell me exactly where she is hiding right now, or I will end you," I screamed, pressing my knee into his back.

Silvio groaned in agonizing pain and spit a mouthful of blood onto the runway.

"She is at the family's secret chalet in the Swiss Alps," Silvio confessed weakly.

"She is meeting with the international bankers in exactly twelve hours to finalize the massive transfer."

Dad immediately called his private pilot and ordered our own jet to be prepped for an emergency transatlantic flight.

We securely tied Silvio to the landing gear of the decoy plane and left him for the local police to find.

The flight to Geneva felt like an absolute eternity as we prepared for the final, deadly confrontation.

We landed in the freezing Swiss mountains just as the early morning sun began to rise over the snowy peaks.

We rented a heavy off-road vehicle and drove cautiously up the treacherous, winding mountain road.

The luxurious wooden chalet was completely surrounded by deep, pristine white snow.

We approached the massive front door silently, our weapons fully drawn and ready for absolute war.

I kicked the wooden door completely off its heavy hinges and rushed into the warm living room.

My mother was sitting elegantly by the massive stone fireplace, sipping a hot cup of tea.

She looked completely calm and absolutely unbothered by our violent, sudden entrance.

"I was genuinely wondering how long it would take you boys to figure it out," she smiled warmly.
