Chapter 5 - The Wife's Secret

Dad moved faster than I had ever seen him move in my entire life.
He grabbed Emilio fiercely by the throat and slammed him violently against a marble tombstone.
"You brought a Moretti rat into my family?" Dad roared, his face turning a dark shade of purple.
I quickly rushed forward and desperately pried my father's hands off my choking brother.
"Killing him right now will not help us find Mom," I shouted over the crashing thunder.
Emilio gasped for air and slid down the wet stone monument to the muddy ground.
"Clarissa is Victor's illegitimate daughter, but she hates him more than we do," Emilio gasped out.
He explained that Clarissa had deliberately married him to help tear down her father's criminal network from the inside.
"She tipped off Silvio today because she knew Silvio was the actual mole working for Victor," Emilio revealed.
Dad took a deep breath, trying to process the massive web of lies completely surrounding us.
"If Clarissa is truly on our side, why did she let Silvio kidnap her?" I asked suspiciously.
"She allowed herself to be taken so she could infiltrate Victor's secure safe house and find Mom," Emilio answered confidently.
He pulled a small tracking device monitor from his soaked jacket pocket.
A tiny green dot was blinking rapidly on the digital map of the city.
"She swallowed a micro-tracker before we even arrived at the funeral reception," Emilio said with a proud smile.
The blinking dot showed that Clarissa was currently being held at an abandoned shipyard near the harbor.
Dad immediately called his elite tactical assault team to prepare for a massive raid.
We rushed back to the estate to arm ourselves with heavy military-grade weapons and bulletproof vests.
I loaded a heavy assault rifle, feeling a surge of pure adrenaline pumping through my veins.
We drove aggressively toward the dark shipyard, keeping our headlights completely off to maintain the element of surprise.
The tracker led us directly to a rusted warehouse heavily guarded by Moretti mercenaries.
We quietly breached the side entrance, fully expecting a brutal and bloody firefight.
But as we stepped into the massive room, we found all the heavily armed guards lying completely unconscious on the floor.
Clarissa was sitting comfortably on a wooden crate, wiping fresh blood off a combat knife.

"You guys are incredibly late," Clarissa smiled, tossing a heavy ring of keys directly at me.
"I found your mother, but she is absolutely not a hostage," Clarissa said chillingly.
