Chapter 8 - The Chaos

The deafening sound of gunfire echoed loudly across the shipping yard.
I dropped to the wet pavement and crawled desperately through the thick smoke.
I could not see anything, but I could hear Leo screaming my name.
I followed the sound of his terrified voice toward the edge of the docks.
Elena suddenly drove our stolen pickup truck straight through a chain-link fence.
She slammed the heavy truck directly into two of Daniel’s distracted mercenaries.
The men flew through the air and crashed hard against a shipping container.
The distraction gave me the perfect opening to reach my son.
I found Leo huddled on the ground, covering his ears in pure terror.
I grabbed him tightly and told him to run toward Elena’s truck.
Just as Leo scrambled away, a heavy boot slammed into my ribs.
I gasped for air and rolled over onto my back.
Daniel stood over me, his expensive suit covered in dirt and engine grease.
His face was twisted in absolute rage and absolute madness.
He aimed his silver revolver directly between my eyes.
He screamed that I had ruined everything he had worked so hard to build.
I closed my eyes and braced myself for the fatal gunshot.
Suddenly, a loud crack echoed through the smoke, but the bullet did not hit me.
Daniel gasped sharply and dropped his revolver onto the concrete.
He looked down at his shoulder in complete shock as dark blood began to pool.
I turned my head and saw Elena standing on the hood of the truck.
She was holding a smoking shotgun that she had taken from the mechanic shop.
She racked the slide and aimed it right at Daniel’s chest.
May you like
Daniel stumbled backward, clutching his bleeding shoulder, and grabbed Leo again.
He dragged my screaming son toward the edge of the deep, black water.
