Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Truth

The police had not been called by the syndicate, but by my lawyer friend.

I had secretly mailed her all the evidence before I left the hospital.

Dozens of honest federal agents swarmed the pier and secured the area.

They fished Daniel out of the freezing water and immediately placed him in heavy handcuffs.

He was shivering, bleeding, and screaming empty threats as they dragged him away.

The nightmare that had destroyed my family was finally over.

Six months later, my life had completely transformed into a peaceful paradise.

Daniel was sentenced to life in a maximum-security federal prison without parole.

I officially divorced him and took full control of my family’s massive trust fund.

I reclaimed my biological son from Elena and named him Oliver.

However, I could not bear to separate the children or leave Elena on the streets.

I bought a huge, beautiful house by the beach and invited Elena to move in with us.

We agreed to raise the children together as a unique but incredibly happy family.

Leo loved being a big brother to both of the adorable babies.

The days of running, hiding, and crying were permanently behind us.

We finally had the safe, loving, and beautiful life we all truly deserved.

Then, one rainy Sunday evening, I was cleaning out the old boxes in the attic.

I found a rusty metal lockbox hidden deep inside Daniel’s college trunk.

I pried it open and found an old, faded adoption certificate from eight years ago.

The certificate included a newborn photo of a baby with a distinct, star-shaped birthmark on his left cheek.

My blood ran absolutely freezing cold as I stared at the photograph in pure horror.

It was the exact same rare birthmark that my seven-year-old son Leo had always had.

If I did not give birth to Leo, who did Daniel steal him from?
