Chapter 6 - The Boy's True Nature

Tyler stared deeply down the dark barrel of the gun, his mind desperately racing for a way out of this trap.
He absolutely could not believe this small child was perfectly willing to trade him to highly ruthless killers.
Marcus tried to weakly grab his son's small ankle, desperately begging Leo to put the deadly weapon down immediately.
Leo entirely coldly kicked his father's bleeding hand away, keeping his unblinking gaze firmly locked on Tyler.
Tyler quickly realized that begging for mercy would absolutely not work on someone who completely lacked human empathy.
Instead, he rapidly tapped the glowing smartphone perfectly permanently grafted to his freezing hand.
"Aegis," Tyler commanded incredibly loudly, desperately hoping the artificial intelligence was actively listening to his voice.
"Initiate defensive protocols."
The strange phone vibrated violently, rapidly emitting a high-frequency sonic pulse that fiercely pierced the freezing night air.
Leo dropped the heavy gun instantly, aggressively clutching his ears in absolute agony as he fell heavily to his knees in the deep snow.
Tyler entirely quickly kicked the weapon far away into a incredibly deep snowbank.
He grabbed the staggering boy by his expensive jacket, forcefully hoisting him up despite the child's violent protests.
He threw Marcus's heavy arm firmly over his shoulder, completely refusing to let either of these crazy people die tonight.
They marched brutally forward through the raging blizzard, motivated purely by pure adrenaline and raw, desperate fear.
After a highly agonizing hour of torturous walking, they finally reached a massive, steel blast door perfectly hidden into the mountainside.
Tyler used the brightly glowing phone to automatically interface with the bunker's highly advanced electronic lock.
The incredibly heavy metal doors slowly groaned open, entirely revealing a warmly lit, fully stocked survival facility.
They stumbled exhaustedly inside, collapsing entirely onto the warm concrete floor as the massive blast doors firmly sealed behind them.
Tyler let out a massive sigh of pure relief, entirely believing they were finally safe from the violently pursuing syndicate.
A loud, incredibly slow clapping sound suddenly echoed directly from the deep shadows of the bunker.
An older man wearing a entirely white lab coat stepped into the light, casually holding a steaming cup of coffee.
Tyler's heart completely stopped beating as he instantly recognized the man's familiar face.

"Hello, son," the old scientist said, slowly offering a warm but incredibly sinister smile.
It was Tyler's deeply estranged father, Dr. Aris, a man supposedly completely killed in a massive lab explosion five years ago.
