Chapter 3 - The Broken Safe House

Maya aggressively cranked the steering wheel to the right, desperately trying to avoid a fatal head-on collision.

The heavy sedan spun violently across the wet asphalt, barely missing the massive steel grill of the hostile truck.

They crashed heavily into a concrete barrier, causing the airbags to deploy with a deafening pop.

Thick smoke hissed from the crumpled hood of the vehicle as a terrifying silence temporarily filled the air.

Maya fought through the intense dizziness and immediately turned around to check on her little boy.

Leo was crying loudly, but he was miraculously completely unharmed in the back seat.

Julian kicked his jammed door open with a heavy boot and stumbled out into the freezing rain.

He coughed blood and warned them that they could not stay there because the mercenaries were coming to finish the job.

They abandoned the wrecked car and fled on foot into the dense, dark woods bordering the highway.

Julian guided them through the dark trees for over an hour until they finally reached an old, abandoned cabin.

It looked completely deserted, overgrown with wild green vines and rotting wooden planks.

Julian explained softly that this was her grandfather's original hideout before he built his massive empire.

Maya pushed the heavy wooden door open, expecting to find a quiet, safe haven for her exhausted child.

Instead, she found the entire living room brilliantly illuminated by harsh, military-grade tactical floodlights.

Four heavily armed mercenaries were waiting inside, their automatic weapons already raised and aimed perfectly at the door.

Sitting tied to a wooden chair in the exact center of the room was a badly beaten woman.

Maya felt the breath completely leave her lungs as she stared at the captive hostage.

It was her younger sister, Elena, who was supposed to be safely studying abroad in a secure location in Europe.

A dark figure stepped out from the shadows, holding a sharp combat knife directly against Elena's throat.

Richard sneered maliciously and demanded that Maya hand over the ring, or her sister would die right there.
