Chapter 5 - The Doctor's Confession

The rain had finally stopped, but a thick, eerie fog blanketed the dark city streets.
Elias drove his heavily armored sports car with reckless, terrifying speed toward the private medical clinic.
Mara sat in the passenger seat, gripping the door handle tightly as she processed the horrific betrayal.
She had trusted Dr. Aris with her life, believing he was a kind, highly professional physician.
She now realized he was just another corrupt pawn in Julian and Bianca’s malicious game.
Elias parked the car aggressively on the curb right in front of the dimly lit medical facility.
He instructed his security team to secure the perimeter and fiercely kicked the glass front door open.
The clinic lobby was completely deserted, smelling strongly of antiseptic and stale coffee.
Elias drew his weapon and led Mara quietly down the dark, sterile hallway toward the private offices.
They found Dr. Aris frantically shoving thick medical files into a portable paper shredder.
Elias stepped into the room and aimed his gun directly at the corrupt doctor’s trembling chest.
"Step away from the shredder, Doctor, before I make a very messy mistake," Elias ordered coldly.
Dr. Aris froze completely, raising his hands in absolute, pathetic surrender.
Mara walked forward, staring at the man who had effortlessly sold her unborn child for a quick payout.
"Why did you forge my signature on those adoption papers?" Mara demanded, her voice shaking with raw anger.
Dr. Aris looked nervously at Elias’s weapon and completely collapsed into his leather desk chair.
"Bianca paid me half a million dollars to create the fake documents," the doctor confessed rapidly.
He wiped sweat from his pale forehead, looking absolutely terrified of the billionaire standing before him.
"She is entirely incapable of having children, and she desperately needs a baby to secure the family trust fund," Dr. Aris explained.
Elias narrowed his eyes, piecing together the horrifying, twisted puzzle of his brother’s plan.
"Julian planned to murder me, steal my child, and pass it off as his own legitimate heir," Elias deduced grimly.
The doctor nodded frantically, tears of fear welling in his cowardly eyes.
"I can testify against them in court, I kept copies of the wire transfers to prove the bribe!" Dr. Aris offered desperately.
Mara felt a sudden, powerful wave of relief wash over her exhausted body.
They finally had the concrete evidence they needed to put Julian and Bianca behind bars forever.
Elias reached out to take the digital hard drive from the doctor’s trembling hand.
Suddenly, a loud, mechanical buzzing sound echoed through the entire medical clinic.
Heavy, reinforced steel security shutters slammed violently down over the office windows and the main doorway.
The electronic deadbolt clicked aggressively, locking them securely inside the small, claustrophobic room.
Dr. Aris looked at the door in absolute, paralyzing confusion.
"I didn't trigger the lockdown protocol," the doctor whispered in pure terror.
A sharp, hissing sound erupted from the ventilation grates located in the ceiling directly above them.
Thick, noxious white gas began pouring rapidly into the locked room, carrying a sickening, sweet chemical smell.
Elias grabbed Mara and pulled her forcefully against his chest to protect her from the descending toxic cloud.

"Julian knew we would come here for the evidence," Elias choked out, covering his mouth with his jacket.
They were completely trapped in a deadly, inescapable gas chamber.
