Chapter 5 - The Burning Vault

The intense, blinding heat radiating from the melting titanium doors rapidly turned the secure safe house into a suffocating oven.
Preston completely abandoned the computer terminal, rushing furiously to the heavy weapon racks lining the concrete walls.
He grabbed a massive, fully loaded assault rifle and aggressively tossed a heavy tactical vest directly at Julian.
“Put that on right now and get entirely behind the server towers!” Preston commanded, aggressively chambering a heavy round into the weapon.
Julian didn't argue, frantically dragging the heavy Kevlar vest over his small frame and diving safely behind the thick metal racks.
The massive, impenetrable blast doors suddenly collapsed completely inward with a deafening, terrifying crash of molten metal.
Thick, blinding white smoke aggressively poured into the safe house, completely hiding the heavily armed attackers from view.
Preston raised his rifle, relying entirely on his newly enhanced, superhuman vision to pierce the dense, artificial fog.
He saw three massive, thermal signatures moving with terrifying, unnatural speed through the smoke directly toward his position.
These weren't ordinary human mercenaries sent to capture them alive.
“They sent the heavily upgraded bio-soldiers!” Julian screamed in absolute terror from his hiding spot.
“You have to aim exclusively for their heads, Preston, their bodies won't feel any pain at all!”
Before Preston could even pull the trigger, the fastest of the massive bio-soldiers violently leaped entirely across the room.
The monstrous man crashed directly into Preston, throwing the billionaire violently through a heavy glass table.
Preston rolled rapidly to his feet, absolutely amazed that his newly enhanced bones did not shatter from the brutal impact.
The massive soldier swung a heavy combat blade directly at Preston's throat with terrifying, lethal intent.
Preston caught the monstrous attacker's wrist mid-air, aggressively twisting the thick arm until a loud, sickening crack echoed through the room.
He forcefully shoved the heavy assault rifle directly into the soldier's chest and pulled the trigger until the magazine was entirely empty.
The monstrous attacker violently stumbled backward, leaking thick black blood, but incredibly, he did not completely fall down.
The other two massive soldiers aggressively closed the distance, completely trapping Preston in a deadly, inescapable corner.
Preston fought like an absolute demon, using his genetically enhanced strength to deliver brutally crushing blows that would have instantly killed normal men.
But he was growing incredibly tired, and the heavily mutated soldiers simply absorbed the violent damage and continued to advance relentlessly.
Suddenly, a massive, deafening explosion violently ripped through the ceiling of the underground safe house.
A heavily armored helicopter had completely destroyed the roof of the warehouse, dropping thick steel rescue cables directly into the fiery chaos.
A familiar, highly scarred man aggressively slid down the thick rope, dual-wielding heavy submachine guns.
It was Vance, Preston’s oldest and most loyal head of personal security, completely ignoring the fiery chaos around him.
Vance unleashed an absolute torrent of heavy gunfire directly into the bio-soldiers, successfully pushing the monstrous attackers back into the thick smoke.
“Grab the rope right now, boss!” Vance screamed over the deafening roar of the massive helicopter blades.
Preston frantically grabbed Julian, aggressively hooking the small boy onto his tactical harness before completely grabbing the heavy steel cable.
The powerful helicopter instantly ripped them violently out of the burning safe house and aggressively into the dark night sky.
As they sat heavily panting in the back of the flying chopper, Preston looked at his loyal friend with immense, overwhelming gratitude.
“You saved our lives, Vance,” Preston breathed heavily, tightly clutching Julian to his chest.

Vance turned around slowly from the pilot's seat, completely leveling a heavy silver pistol directly at Preston’s forehead.
“I'm really sorry, Preston, but Marcus is paying me fifty million dollars to crash this helicopter into the ocean with both of you inside,” Vance whispered coldly.
