Chapter 3 - The Blood Contract

The heavy steel elevator continued its rapid descent, plunging Preston entirely into a nightmare he could not possibly comprehend.

He dragged his useless, paralyzed legs across the cold metal floor, furiously backing away from the terrifying child with glowing eyes.

“Who the hell are you?” Preston demanded, his voice shaking with a potent mixture of raw fear and desperate anger.

The unnatural blue glow slowly faded from the boy’s eyes, leaving behind the exhausted, fragile gaze of a highly traumatized child.

“My name is Julian,” the boy whispered weakly, curling his thin body into a tight defensive ball.

“And your ruthless brother Marcus is the exact reason both of us are broken.”

Preston shook his head in aggressive denial, refusing to believe the horrible implications of the boy's words.

“Marcus is my business partner, but he isn't a monster,” Preston argued, desperately clinging to his shattered reality.

Julian let out a bitter, joyless laugh that sounded entirely wrong coming from someone so young.

“Who do you think authorized the team to cut the brake lines on your sports car five years ago?” Julian asked softly.

The words struck Preston directly in the chest like a heavy physical blow, completely stealing the oxygen from his lungs.

The tragic accident that had completely shattered his spine and destroyed his life had always been officially ruled a mechanical failure.

But Marcus had been the one entirely in charge of the company's vehicle maintenance fleet that specific year.

“He paralyzed you so he could illegally take full control of the genetic research division without your ethical oversight,” Julian explained rapidly.

“And he used that complete control to build the underground laboratory where he created me in a test tube.”

The elevator finally chimed softly, and the heavy doors slid violently open to reveal the dimly lit, sprawling underground parking garage.

Preston dragged himself desperately toward the emergency intercom on the wall, needing to call his loyal security chief for immediate extraction.

Before his trembling fingers could even reach the glowing button, Julian suddenly grabbed his wrist with astonishing strength.

“If you call your security team, Marcus will intercept the signal and slaughter every single person trying to help you,” Julian warned fiercely.

“I can permanently rewrite the damaged DNA in your spine and give you your life back forever.”

Julian reached into his dirty pocket and pulled out a small, incredibly sharp surgical scalpel.

“But the permanent healing process completely requires a massive, unbroken transfer of my own cellular energy.”

Julian violently slashed the palm of his own hand, letting his dark, unnatural blood drip slowly onto the concrete floor.

“Take my hand, accept the final transfer, and promise me you will destroy Marcus tonight,” Julian demanded.

Preston stared at the bleeding hand, completely torn between his profound moral compass and his overwhelming, desperate desire to walk again.

The deafening squeal of heavy tactical vehicle tires aggressively echoed through the concrete ramps of the parking garage above them.

Marcus’s heavily armed death squad had already breached the perimeter and was rapidly descending to their exact level.

Preston reached out and forcefully gripped the boy's bloody hand, screaming loudly as thousands of volts of pure biological energy violently flooded his nervous system.

Just as Preston proudly stood up on two perfectly functioning legs, a massive, heavily armored tank smashed directly through the concrete wall of the garage.

The heavy cannon mounted on the roof slowly swiveled in the darkness, aiming directly at Preston’s chest.
