Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Confrontation

Mateo's terrified words echoed in my ears long after the phone call ended.

Federal agents were currently tearing through my corporate headquarters because of Andrés's forged documents.

If the government believed those fraudulent guarantees were real, I would be held fully liable for massive corporate fraud.

I told the nanny to keep the girls locked securely in the safe room until I returned.

I sprinted to my car and drove recklessly toward the towering glass building of Horizonte Capital.

When I arrived, the lobby was completely chaotic, filled with agents carrying out heavy boxes of hard drives and financial files.

I pushed my way past the federal investigators and marched directly into the executive boardroom on the top floor.

Andrés was already sitting at the head of the massive mahogany table, wearing a fresh suit and a deeply arrogant smirk.

He was flanked by three expensive corporate lawyers and a stern representative from the federal banking commission.

He had actually convinced the authorities that he was the rightful managing partner stepping in to save a failing company.

Andrés stood up and mockingly offered me a chair at the very far end of the long table.

He announced to the room that his poor, unstable wife was finally here to face the consequences of her terrible financial mismanagement.

I did not sit down, nor did I show a single ounce of fear to the federal agents watching me.

I placed my designer briefcase on the table and calmly opened the polished brass locks.

I pulled out a thick, leather-bound portfolio and slid it smoothly across the table to the banking representative.

Andrés laughed nervously, asking if I was trying to submit fake documents to save my own skin.

I ignored him entirely and addressed the serious federal agent sitting across from me.

I explained that the portfolio contained the unedited, timestamped security footage from my home office.

I told the room that the video clearly showed Andrés practicing and forging my exact signature on those specific corporate guarantees.

Andrés turned completely pale, his confident smirk melting into a mask of pure terror.

His expensive lawyers immediately stopped writing and looked at their client with severe suspicion.

The federal banking agent opened his laptop, inserted the encrypted drive I provided, and pressed play.

The entire boardroom sat in deafening silence as the high-definition video played on the large projector screen.

The footage showed Andrés sitting at my private desk, laughing with Isabella on speakerphone while he traced my signature onto the fraudulent loan documents.

He was literally bragging on video about how easily he was going to steal millions of dollars from his stupid wife.

The federal agent closed his laptop slowly and looked directly at Andrés with eyes as cold as ice.

He stated clearly that submitting forged documents to a federal bank was a severe felony carrying a mandatory twenty-year prison sentence.

Andrés stumbled backward away from the table, desperately pointing a shaking finger at me.

He screamed that the video was a deepfake, completely fabricated by my jealous, vindictive mind.

His own lawyers quickly stood up, packed their briefcases, and walked entirely out of the room without saying a word to him.

The federal agent pulled a heavy radio from his belt and quietly requested for armed officers to come up to the boardroom.

Andrés realized he was completely trapped, with absolutely no allies left to save him.

He looked wildly around the room, grabbed a heavy brass paperweight from the desk, and lunged violently directly toward my face.
