Chapter 6 - The Midnight Escape

I watched the flames consume the thick paper through the screen of my phone.

Isabella let out a triumphant laugh as the ashes fluttered down onto the cheap carpet of my decoy apartment.

She told me that without the original physical document, I could never prove Andrés owed me the 5.4 million pesos.

She blew a mocking kiss to the camera and proudly stated that the Villaseñor family had finally won.

I did not scream, I did not cry, and I certainly did not beg her to stop.

I simply smiled a cold, terrifying smile directly into the camera lens.

I thanked her for breaking into my apartment and confessing to the destruction of legal evidence on a recorded video call.

Isabella's smug expression instantly vanished as she realized her massive, irreversible mistake.

I calmly explained to the panicked mistress that the paper she just burned was nothing but a useless photocopy.

The original, certified promissory note was locked safely inside a biometric vault at my corporate headquarters.

I ended the video call before she could say another pathetic word and immediately sent the recording to Mateo.

I ordered him to file felony breaking and entering charges against Isabella right away.

I wanted the pregnant mistress sitting in a cold jail cell by midnight.

I walked into the living room where Sofía and Valentina were happily watching a cartoon on the large television.

I sat between them on the couch, stroking their soft hair and feeling a sudden surge of absolute power.

For the first time in eleven years, I was no longer playing defense against these monsters.

I was finally on the offensive, and I was going to burn their entire fake empire to the ground.

My phone vibrated again, this time with a panicked text message from Doña Patricia.

The message angrily demanded to know why heavily armed men were standing outside the hacienda.

I walked over to the large windows overlooking my dark gardens and dialed my mother-in-law's number.

She answered on the first ring, screaming hysterically about thugs ruining her peaceful evening.

I kept my voice dangerously low and smooth, completely devoid of any human empathy.

I told Patricia that those men were not thugs, but a private corporate eviction team.

I revealed that I was the true owner of the beautiful hacienda she loved so much.

I informed her that her beloved son was a broke fraud who had been paying rent with stolen money.

Patricia gasped loudly into the phone, completely unable to process the shocking truth.

She desperately tried to call me a liar, insisting her son was a brilliant, wealthy businessman.

I told her to look out the front window of the hacienda if she wanted to see the absolute truth.

I had ordered Mateo to send a fleet of heavy construction bulldozers to idle loudly at the edge of the property.

Patricia dropped her phone, and I could hear her screaming in absolute terror as the massive diesel engines roared to life outside her window.

I hung up the phone, feeling a deep, satisfying thrill run through my veins.

The majestic Villaseñor family was finally getting exactly what they deserved.

But my moment of triumph was violently interrupted when the lights in my secure estate suddenly went completely black.

A heavy, terrifying crash echoed from the kitchen, followed by the sound of breaking glass.

Someone had just broken into my highly secure house.
