Chapter 9 - The Absolute Ruin

Four marked police cruisers aggressively skidded onto the pristine manicured lawn, tearing deep tracks into the expensive grass.

Gavin suddenly smiled a massive, triumphant smile, fully believing his original plan was finally coming to fruition.

He actually thought the police were arriving to arrest me for the fraudulent embezzlement scheme he had orchestrated.

He pointed at me and shouted to the approaching officers that I was a dangerous criminal who needed to be detained immediately.

The lead detective completely ignored Gavin’s frantic shouting and walked directly up to the wooden stage.

The detective pulled out a heavy pair of steel handcuffs and clamped them forcefully around Gavin’s wrists.

“Gavin Vance, you are under arrest for massive commercial fraud, grand larceny, and attempted murder,” the detective announced loudly.

Gavin’s triumphant smile instantly vanished, completely replaced by a mask of sheer, unadulterated terror.

“You are making a mistake! She is the one who embezzled the money!” Gavin screamed, struggling wildly against the heavy steel restraints.

Mr. Harrison, my brilliant elderly lawyer, stepped gracefully out of the crowd holding a thick federal briefcase.

“We have already provided the district attorney with the vanishing ink contract, the hidden camera footage, and the mechanic’s confession regarding the sabotaged brakes,” Mr. Harrison declared proudly.

Two more officers approached my father, who immediately fell to his knees in the grass, sobbing pathetically.

They arrested him on the spot for official notary fraud, conspiracy, and acting as an accomplice to attempted murder.

My mother stood frozen in absolute shock, watching her entire carefully constructed, wealthy life disintegrate into literal dust.

Brooke frantically backed away from the chaotic scene, desperately clutching her newborn baby against her chest.

She completely abandoned Gavin and sprinted toward her parked Volvo, desperate to escape the devastating consequences of her betrayal.

She threw the driver’s side door open and scrambled into the seat, crying hysterically as she tried to start the engine.

Suddenly, a massive, heavily tattooed man rose from the back seat of the vehicle and placed a rough hand on her shoulder.

It was the notorious cartel enforcer, the actual biological father of her child, and the man Gavin owed two million dollars.

“Going somewhere, beautiful?” the enforcer asked with a chilling, terrifying smile.

Brooke screamed in absolute horror as the police immediately swarmed the car with their weapons drawn.

The officers dragged both Brooke and the dangerous mobster out of the vehicle, slapping handcuffs on them for a multitude of separate, severe organized crime charges.

I stood quietly on the stage in my stunning crimson dress, watching the police load my entire treacherous family into the back of their cruisers.

The garden was utterly silent once again, save for the crackle of police radios and the flashing of red and blue lights.

My complete, absolute, and total revenge was finally finished.
