Chapter 7 - The Arrest Warrant

The two officers rushed down the aisle, completely ignoring the chaotic mess around them.
"Ma'am, drop the broken glass right now and step away from the victim!" the lead officer shouted at me.
I dropped the jagged piece of the vase, holding my trembling hands up in the air.
"He poisoned me!" I cried out desperately.
"He murdered my unborn child, you have to arrest him!"
The officer didn't listen to a single word I said.
He pulled a pair of heavy metal handcuffs from his belt and grabbed my wrists violently.
"Annie Miller, you are under arrest for aggravated assault and violating a court order," he announced.
"What court order?" my father yelled, stepping forward to block the officer.
Ryan sat up on the floor, wiping the blood from his eyes with a wicked smile.
"I filed an emergency psychiatric hold and a restraining order against her this morning," Ryan gloated.
"The judge signed it because I provided evidence that she is a violent danger to our children."
He had planned this perfectly.
He knew I would eventually find out about the embezzled trust funds.
He had manipulated the legal system to ensure I would be locked in a psychiatric ward before I could ever testify against him.
Amelia burst into terrified tears, grabbing onto my leg as the officer clicked the handcuffs around my wrists.
"Don't take my mom!" Amelia sobbed, burying her face in my dress.
I looked at Ryan, realizing he had finally won.
He was going to take my children, my money, and my freedom, all while playing the victim.
"Let her go, officer," a deep, commanding voice echoed from the front of the room.
Mark stood up from the floor, brushing the dust off his suit jacket.
The police officer glared at Mark, his hand hovering dangerously over his holster.
"Step back, sir, or you will be arrested for interfering with a police investigation," the officer warned.
Mark reached into the inside pocket of his jacket and pulled out a leather wallet.
He flipped it open, revealing a gleaming gold badge and a federal identification card.

"I am Special Agent Mark Davies with the FBI Financial Crimes Division," Mark stated firmly.
"And I am taking federal jurisdiction over this entire circus."
