Chapter 6 - The Unborn Heir

I stood fiercely protectively in front of Maya’s hospital bed like a solid human shield.

"You are absolutely out of your mind if you think you are taking her anywhere," I snarled angrily at Ethan.

The two massive private security guards took a highly menacing step toward me.

"The court has legally granted me emergency custody due to her clear mental instability," Ethan explained smoothly.

He happily waved the legal document in the air as if it were a winning lottery ticket.

"She supposedly attacked me with a knife and then tried to poison herself in a jail cell," he lied flawlessly.

"The honorable judge completely agreed that she is a massive danger to herself and our precious unborn child," Ethan smirked.

I looked closely at the signature on the court order and realized how deep his corruption actually went.

The judge who signed the emergency order was a notorious friend of Beatrice’s wealthy inner circle.

"You deliberately poisoned her breakfast tray at the precinct, you absolute monster," I accused him loudly.

Ethan mockingly clutched his chest in fake offense and sighed dramatically.

"These baseless paranoid delusions are exactly why you are entirely unfit to be around my wife," Ethan replied.

He turned to the armed private security guards and pointed a demanding finger directly at me.

"Remove this hysterical woman from the medical premises immediately," Ethan commanded them.

The heavy guards reached for my arms, but Marcus suddenly stepped bravely into the room.

"If you lay a single finger on my client, I will personally bury you in civil lawsuits until you rot," Marcus threatened the guards.

The guards hesitated slightly and looked directly at Ethan for further instructions.

"The private transfer ambulance is arriving in exactly ten short minutes," Ethan told Marcus smugly.

"You can try to stall all you want, but the actual law is entirely on my side today," Ethan laughed.

He confidently turned around and walked out of the room with his guards following closely behind.

Maya began to hyperventilate violently as the heart monitor beeped rapidly in the background.

"Mom, he is going to lock me in an asylum forever and steal my baby," Maya sobbed uncontrollably.

"I will burn this entire corrupt city to the ground before I ever let that happen," I promised her fiercely.

I pulled out my phone and quickly dialed the number Sarah had given me earlier.

"Sarah, I deeply need your help to execute an emergency extraction right now," I told her urgently.

"I am already down in the hospital basement wearing a stolen nurse's uniform," Sarah replied calmly.

"I brilliantly intercepted his transfer order and I know exactly where they plan to take her," she added.

"We have less than eight minutes before Ethan's private medical team comes right through that door," I warned her.

"Bring her down to the loading dock service elevator in exactly three minutes," Sarah instructed before hanging up.

I looked at Marcus and firmly told him to go cause a massive distraction in the main lobby.

Marcus nodded and sprinted down the hallway to create maximum legal chaos.

I carefully unhooked Maya from the non-essential medical monitors and alarms.

I gently helped her into a wheelchair and threw a heavy blanket over her trembling shoulders.

We quietly slipped out of the room and headed rapidly toward the service elevator.

Just as the metal elevator doors began to close, a bloody hand suddenly jammed itself between the panels.

The doors forcefully pulled themselves back open to reveal Beatrice standing there with a psychotic smile.

She was firmly holding a loaded silver revolver pointed directly at my daughter's pregnant stomach.
