Chapter 5 - The Prison Riot

Daniel’s terrified screams echoed loudly through the small speaker of my cell phone.

“They are actively trying to kill me, Mom!” he sobbed hysterically, completely panicking.

“Who is trying to kill you, Daniel?” I demanded sharply, my military training instantly completely taking over.

“The men Victoria Vance entirely hired to aggressively run the jail!” he cried out desperately.

“They intentionally unlocked all the cell doors, they are letting the violent inmates out!”

I heard the terrifying, deafening sounds of heavy metal clanging and grown men aggressively shouting in the chaotic background.

“Where are the prison guards?” I asked, gripping the heavy tactical handgun tightly.

“They completely abandoned the cellblock!” Daniel yelled frantically.

“Vance is entirely tying up loose ends, Mom, she is having us completely murdered to cover her tracks!”

Before I could even formulate a solid extraction plan, the line completely went dead with a harsh, violent static crackle.

I stared at the phone in absolute, paralyzing disbelief.

Victoria Vance was not just a ruthless corporate CEO; she actively controlled the corrupt local authorities entirely.

She was aggressively silencing my son so he couldn't testify about the massive real estate fraud.

I immediately called Mr. Harris, waking the elderly attorney entirely from a deep sleep.

“Rachel, it is exactly three in the morning, what is wrong?” he asked groggily.

“Vance is actively having Daniel murdered in the county jail right now,” I stated completely coldly.

“I need you to officially call your friends at the FBI and aggressively demand an immediate federal intervention.”

Mr. Harris gasped loudly, entirely instantly awake.

“I am officially on it, Rachel, but it will absolutely take at least an hour to heavily mobilize a federal tactical team.”

“He doesn't actively have an hour,” I replied smoothly.

“What exactly are you going to do?” Mr. Harris asked nervously.

“I am going to completely ensure he actually survives until they get there.”

I hung up the phone and entirely grabbed a heavy, dark tactical jacket from Robert’s old closet.

I quickly loaded three spare magazines completely into my pockets and drove aggressively toward the county jail.

The massive concrete facility was entirely dark, the emergency backup lights flashing weakly through the small, barred windows.

There were absolutely no local police cruisers parked anywhere near the main entrance.

Victoria Vance had literally bought entirely off the entire local precinct to look completely the other way.

I parked my car in the dark shadows and entirely crept silently toward the heavy side loading dock.

I used a small, specialized lock-picking tool I hadn't actively touched since the Cold War to effortlessly bypass the heavy security door.

I slipped entirely into the dark, echoing corridors of the massive jail, keeping my heavy weapon raised and perfectly steady.

The absolute chaos was aggressively contained entirely in Cellblock C on the third floor.

I moved silently up the dark concrete stairs, entirely avoiding the few remaining corrupt guards smoking casually in the break room.

I reached the heavy steel doors of the cellblock and carefully peered entirely through the reinforced glass window.

It was an absolute, terrifying bloodbath.

Dozens of violent inmates were actively fighting completely in the open common area.

But my sharp eyes quickly completely locked onto Daniel.

He was aggressively backed entirely into a corner, desperately trying to fend off two massive, heavily tattooed men wielding sharpened shivs.

They were not random angry inmates; they moved with aggressive, lethal military precision.

They were entirely Vanguard mercenaries completely disguised as common prisoners.

I aggressively kicked the heavy steel door completely open, stepping entirely into the chaotic, violent room.

I didn't actively shout a warning or completely hesitate for a single second.

I aggressively fired two perfectly placed shots completely into the ceiling, the deafening roar of the heavy handgun instantly completely stopping the massive riot.

Every single violent inmate turned to stare directly at the seventy-one-year-old woman holding a smoking gun.

“Step entirely away from my son,” I commanded loudly, my voice cutting completely through the terrifying silence like a sharp knife.

The two disguised mercenaries entirely ignored my aggressive warning, completely lunging violently toward Daniel with their lethal weapons.
