Chapter 4 - The Genetic Truth

I pulled Evelyn out of the master bedroom and locked the door to secure the horrific crime scene.
We rushed frantically down the staircase to find Marcus and the children waiting by the fireplace.
Marcus took one look at my bloodstained shirt and immediately pulled out his own concealed weapon.
I ordered Marcus to drive all of us to the underground private medical facility I owned across the city.
We loaded Mia, the baby, and Evelyn into the armored SUV while the storm raged fiercely above us.
I needed absolute scientific proof of what the hell was happening to my family before calling the corrupted police.
We arrived at the sterile laboratory and I forced my top geneticist to run an emergency expedited DNA sequence.
I handed him a swab from the infant, a swab from myself, and demanded the results within the hour.
We waited in the cold steel room in absolute silence while Evelyn silently rocked the sleeping baby.
The head geneticist finally walked back into the room holding a thick medical file.
He nervously confirmed that the infant was a one hundred percent match as my biological son.
I let out a heavy breath, feeling a profound sense of protective duty wash over me.
Then the doctor nervously cleared his throat and handed me a second piece of paper.

He revealed that he had also secretly tested the DNA of the seven-year-old girl named Mia.
The results definitively proved that Mia was also my biological daughter.
