Chapter 10 - The False Victory

The top of the cliff descended into absolute, bloody chaos in a matter of seconds.
Josephine moved with terrifying speed, disarming two blinded mercenaries and using their weapons against them.
Roman expertly covered her from below, his deadly accuracy eliminating anyone who tried to aim at her.
Within two minutes, Julian’s entire elite security detail lay dead or severely bleeding in the mud.
Julian stumbled blindly backward, desperately clutching his violently burned face in absolute agony.
Roman marched aggressively up the cliff and kicked Julian brutally in the chest, sending him crashing down.
"It is completely over, Julian," Roman growled, pressing the hot barrel of his gun against Julian’s forehead.
Julian whimpered pathetically, begging for his miserable life in the pouring rain.
Roman violently struck him across the jaw, knocking the traitor completely unconscious for the police.
The immediate, terrifying threat to the DeLuca family was entirely neutralized.
Roman quickly radioed his loyal backup forces, who were already securing the boys at the bottom of the hill.
He let out a massive, heavy sigh of relief and turned around to sincerely thank the incredible woman who saved them.
Josephine was kneeling quietly beside the body of Julian's top Russian lieutenant.
Roman walked over to gently pull her into a deeply grateful, passionate embrace.
But as Roman got closer, he looked down at the dead lieutenant's exposed wrist and saw a highly distinctive black serpent tattoo.
It was the exact same rare mark he had seen carefully hidden beneath Josephine's silver watch earlier that night.

Julian suddenly coughed up blood on the ground and started laughing hysterically into the freezing rain.
"You actually think she is protecting your sons, Roman, but my men didn't break in to kill the nanny; they broke in to take direct orders from the true Queen of the Russian syndicate."
