Chapter 9 - The Trap Springs

Daniel stared at the small blinking device in Rachel’s hand, his arrogant smirk faltering for just a second.

"What is that supposed to be, a useless wire?" he mocked, taking a highly aggressive step toward her.

"My father will have the best lawyers in the country completely bury whatever illegal recording you think you have."

Chloe stood nervously in the corner, clutching her stolen diamond ring and looking absolutely terrified of the scarred woman.

"It’s not just a simple recording device, Daniel," Rachel explained, her voice echoing coldly in the small room.

"It is a highly advanced cellular broadcast link seamlessly connected directly to my social media accounts."

She held the device up higher, ensuring the tiny camera lens was pointing directly at his pale face.

"Everything you just said, and everything on this USB drive, is currently broadcasting entirely live."

Daniel’s face instantly drained of all color as panic finally set into his cold eyes.

Rachel aggressively plugged the USB drive into the massive smart TV mounted on the VIP room wall.

She hit play on the security footage, forcing Daniel and Chloe to watch the exact moment he locked the door and started the fire.

"Over three million people are watching this exact feed right now, Daniel," Rachel stated fiercely.

"And they are also watching you completely admit to trying to murder me for a massive insurance payout."

Daniel lunged forward violently, desperately trying to snatch the broadcasting device from her hands.

Rachel was incredibly ready for him, easily sidestepping his clumsy attack and shoving him hard against the glass table.

"You ruined my perfect face, you destroyed my life, and you threatened my innocent family," Rachel yelled, her voice vibrating with pure rage.

"But you completely forgot that you were the one who originally taught me exactly how to use the media."

Loud, frantic pounding suddenly erupted violently against the locked wooden door of the VIP room.

"Open this door immediately, this is the State Police!" a loud, commanding voice boomed from the hallway.

Rachel’s millions of angry viewers had aggressively flooded the emergency dispatch lines, entirely bypassing the corrupt local police.

Daniel scrambled desperately toward the back window, completely willing to abandon Chloe just like he had abandoned Rachel.

But before he could even unlock the heavy glass latch, the wooden door violently burst completely off its metal hinges.
