Chapter 7 - The Hostage Driver

The screeching sound of heavy tires echoed loudly as my armored town car tore out of the underground garage.

Commissioner Fletcher aggressively grabbed his police radio and broadcasted an emergency city-wide alert.

He screamed for all available units to intercept a black, bulletproof executive vehicle heading toward the highway.

I stood in the empty garage, feeling a terrifying wave of panic wash over my entire body.

My private driver, Thomas, was an incredibly loyal man who had worked for my family for over twenty years.

Garrick had clearly taken Thomas hostage to force him to drive the complex escape route.

The Commissioner quickly ushered Sienna and me into the back of a heavily armored police command SUV.

We sped out of the estate and merged onto the dark city streets, following the live GPS tracker embedded in my stolen car.

Inside the command vehicle, specialized police operators tracked Garrick's chaotic movements on digital screens.

The stolen town car was weaving recklessly through dense traffic at speeds exceeding one hundred miles per hour.

Commissioner Fletcher picked up the secure radio microphone and connected directly to the phone inside my stolen vehicle.

He demanded that Garrick pull over immediately and release the innocent driver before someone got killed.

Garrick's frantic, breathless voice echoed loudly over the police speakers in our SUV.

He laughed maniacally and declared that he was completely untouchable inside the reinforced vehicle.

He demanded that the police clear a direct path to the private airport on the edge of the city.

He explicitly threatened to shoot Thomas in the head if he saw a single police barricade block his path.

I gripped Sienna's uninjured hand tightly as we listened to the monster threaten a man we considered family.

I grabbed the microphone from the Commissioner and spoke directly to Garrick.

I calmly told him that running away would not save him from the absolute destruction of his pathetic life.

Garrick screamed back, claiming that he would vanish across the border and slowly rebuild his fortune.

He arrogantly boasted that my expensive armored car was the ultimate shield against their pathetic bullets.

Suddenly, a different voice cut through the static on the radio transmission.

It was Thomas, and his voice sounded incredibly calm despite the terrifying danger he was facing.

Thomas whispered that he had worked for my family for twenty years and he absolutely refused to let this monster win.

Before Garrick could yell at him to shut up, the radio transmission captured the violent sound of a steering wheel being aggressively cranked.
