Chapter 5 - The Secret Recording
The violent explosion sent thousands of shards of glass raining down across the dining room floor.
Bright tactical flashlights completely blinded Garrick as heavily armed SWAT officers breached the windows.
The sudden chaos caused Garrick to flinch and momentarily pull the gun away from Sienna's head.
Sienna did not hesitate for a single second.
She violently stomped her heel directly onto Garrick's foot and threw her body forward onto the rug.
Garrick screamed in pain and desperately tried to grab her hair as she escaped his grip.
Two SWAT officers tackled him from behind before he could aim his weapon again.
They aggressively slammed him face-first into the hardwood floor and ripped the revolver from his bloody hand.
I rushed forward and pulled Sienna into my arms, shielding her body from the surrounding chaos.
Garrick struggled wildly against the officers, screaming that he was the victim of a massive conspiracy.
He yelled that I had manipulated the police into attacking a highly respected corporate executive.
Commissioner Fletcher walked over and looked down at the pathetic man pinned to the floor.
The Commissioner calmly informed Garrick that the police did not need my help to build a criminal case against him.
Garrick stopped struggling and laughed arrogantly.
He confidently claimed that it was just his word against the word of an emotional, clumsy wife.
Sienna slowly stood up from the floor, leaning heavily against my shoulder for support.
She reached into the pocket of her skirt with her good hand and pulled out a small digital audio recorder.
She looked down at the husband who had tormented her for years and pressed the play button.
Garrick's own voice echoed clearly through the small speaker of the device.
The recording captured Garrick violently threatening to kill Sienna if she ever told anyone about the physical abuse.
It also captured him explicitly bragging about embezzling millions of dollars from Ashford Industries to fund his illegal gambling habits.
Garrick's arrogant smirk instantly vanished as he listened to his own chilling confession.
He realized that Sienna had been secretly gathering hard evidence to completely destroy him.
The Chairman of the Board stood up from beneath the table and glared at Garrick with absolute disgust.
The Chairman announced that he would personally ensure Garrick rotted in a federal penitentiary for the rest of his life.

But just as they reached the edge of the glass, the lights in the entire estate completely shut off.
