Chapter 3 - The Medical Examination
Commissioner Fletcher instantly drew his weapon and aimed it directly at Miriam's head.
He ordered her to drop the silver carving knife immediately or he would use lethal force.
Miriam hesitated for a terrifying second before her hands began to shake violently.
The heavy knife clattered loudly onto the polished hardwood floor.
Two police officers rushed forward and violently pinned the screaming woman against the wall.
They secured her wrists in cold steel handcuffs and dragged her out into the hallway.
Garrick watched his mother being arrested, but he was too cowardly to intervene.
He backed away slowly and bumped into the large glass display cabinet.
I turned my attention away from the pathetic man and looked at Dr. Chen.
I asked the doctor to please examine my daughter's arm immediately.
Sienna was crying softly as Dr. Chen gently removed the temporary sling.
Sienna winced in intense pain as the doctor carefully inspected the dark purple bruising on her shoulder.
Garrick desperately tried to claim that Sienna had simply fallen down the stairs because she was clumsy.
Dr. Chen ignored his pathetic lies and continued his thorough medical examination.
The doctor's expression grew incredibly dark as he rolled up Sienna's sleeve.
He announced that the shoulder was severely dislocated and required immediate hospitalization.
He also noted that the bruising pattern clearly indicated a violent, intentional assault.
Commissioner Fletcher pulled out his radio and requested an ambulance to our exact location.
I wrapped my arms around my weeping daughter and kissed the top of her head.
I whispered that she would never have to spend another second in this horrible house.
Dr. Chen gently checked Sienna's pulse and suddenly paused with a confused look on his face.
He asked Sienna how long she had been experiencing extreme fatigue and nausea.
Sienna wiped her tears and whispered that she had been feeling incredibly sick for the past two months.
Dr. Chen looked directly at me with absolute horror in his eyes.
He softly announced that the violent physical assault was significantly worse than we initially thought.
He revealed that Sienna was displaying all the classic physical signs of early pregnancy.
Garrick had violently attacked his wife while she was carrying his unborn child.
