Chapter 7 - The Broken Vial

The armed guards slowly advanced, forming an impenetrable circle around us in the brightly lit laboratory.

I clutched Lily to my chest, praying silently for a miracle as her fragile body continued to tremble.

"You have completely lost your mind, Vanessa," Nathaniel said, keeping his voice incredibly steady and calm.

"If you detonate that explosive, you will absolutely die in the blast right alongside us."

Vanessa laughed, a high-pitched, manic sound that echoed terrifyingly off the sterile glass walls.

"My father already secured my immunity and a private jet waiting on the roof to take me to Switzerland."

"I just need you to sign one simple, legally binding document before I leave this miserable city."

One of the guards stepped forward and shoved a clipboard aggressively into Nathaniel's chest.

It was a complete corporate surrender, transferring his entire empire and Lily's newly inherited fortune directly to Vanessa.

"Sign the paper, Nathaniel, and I will graciously allow you to administer the antidote to the little brat," Vanessa demanded.

Nathaniel did not hesitate for a single second when it came to saving my daughter's life.

He grabbed a pen from the guard and signed his name boldly at the bottom of the legal document.

"Now hand over the medicine," Nathaniel ordered, tossing the clipboard onto the sleek laboratory floor.

Vanessa smiled wickedly, stepping forward to retrieve the signed legal document with a victorious gleam in her eyes.

She casually picked up the silver case containing the glowing blue antidote from the table.

"Thank you for your generous cooperation, my darling ex-fiancé," she purred sweetly.

Instead of handing the life-saving medicine to Nathaniel, she deliberately opened her perfectly manicured hand.

The delicate glass vial fell to the hard tile floor, shattering into a dozen sharp, useless pieces.

The glowing blue liquid quickly seeped into the cracks of the floor, completely destroyed forever.

"Oops, my fingers must be a little slippery today," Vanessa mocked with absolute, chilling cruelty.

I screamed in sheer, unadulterated agony, falling to my knees as all hope for my daughter vanished.

Vanessa signaled to her armed men, turning her back on us as she walked toward the exit.

"Burn the laboratory to the ground and leave no survivors," she commanded her mercenaries.
