Chapter 7 - The Federal Raid

David dropped the crowbar and immediately fell to his knees, throwing his hands in the air.
He screamed that this was a misunderstanding and tried to play the innocent victim once again.
The federal agents ignored his lies, forcefully pushing him to the floor and locking him in heavy zip ties.
A tall woman in a sharp gray suit walked through the chemical foam and flashed an FBI badge.
She introduced herself as Special Agent Vance and told me I was completely safe.
I asked her how she knew we were in danger and why the FBI was involved in a local domestic dispute.
Agent Vance smiled and pointed toward Chloe, who was wiping foam from her expensive coat.
Chloe confessed that she had gone to the FBI days ago when she first learned about Preston's financial crimes.
The USB drive I threw into the deep fryer was nothing but a useless, empty decoy.
Chloe had already given the real CCTV footage to Agent Vance earlier that morning.
They had wiretapped David’s phone and recorded his entire villainous monologue in the cafeteria.
The FBI finally had enough evidence to take down my family’s entire corrupt empire.
Agent Vance told me it was time to go upstairs and retrieve my daughter.
I followed the agents out of the cafeteria, my heart pounding with glorious anticipation.
We marched down the hospital corridor toward the pediatric wing, flanked by federal tactical gear.
My parents' private security guards took one look at the FBI windbreakers and immediately backed away.
We burst into Sophie’s hospital room, where Preston was sitting on the edge of her bed, holding a terrifyingly tight grip on her small arm.
My mother and father were standing in the corner, laughing about how perfectly their plan had worked.
Their laughter died instantly when they saw the federal agents swarm the room.
Preston tried to stand up, but Agent Vance slammed him back into the chair and read him his rights.
I ran to the bed and scooped Sophie into my arms, holding her so tightly I promised never to let go.
Sophie cried into my shoulder, whispering that she knew I would come back for her.

My father began screaming at the agents, threatening to have them all fired by the end of the day.
Agent Vance simply smiled and handed my father a massive stack of federal indictments.
